stars: Linda Fiorentino, Ben Affleck, Kevin Smith, Chris Rock, Matt Damon, Jason Mewes, Alan Rickman, Selma Hayek director: Kevin Smith release date: November 12, 1999 my review: It ruled. Narrowly beating out "Three Kings" is Dogma, the most horrible, terrible, atrocious film ever made... according to idiots. This movie was great. It had its own handful of flaws, but the laughs kept coming at a steady pace. When the forever overrated Jay and Silent Bob first showed up, I was quite worried. Did I really want to spend another two hours listening to Jay make a sexist ass of himself and seeing Bob react? But the one-joke characters fit well into this film, and if they were always used this well (and they're not), I wouldn't have a problem. Even Ben Affleck somehow managed to be funny. |
