After spending the morning cleaning and setting up for a visit from my inlaws (looking forward to that being over) I spent the afternoon Downhill skateboarding with a bunch of guys...life is so simple with a bit of speed. I'm the 4th guy to enter the screen, Black shirt, Blue helmet, Pink wheels trying to stay in the draft of the two kids in a tight draft train. The guy in the Blue shirt was our rabbit. Just past the Videographer we were speed trapped at 39mph. BTW those two kids are the #2 & #7 juniors in the world and it's scary how fast they are...and they lost me just past the speedtrap...my tuck sucks and I'm old (that's my story anyway)

yeah that was the taxi/shuttle...the hill is a mile and with shuttle service we get about 10 runs an hour. We varied from mass starts to heats to solo runs. I was the 3rd fastest in solo runs behind the aforementioned speedy kids but I'm not very comfortable in a pack (those two kids were playing slapfights at 35mph drifting/sliding through corners )

At that speed, I wouldn't be comfortable solo or in a pack. :-) Looks like fun though.

Driving in europe.
OK one of the more enjoyable part of my job is the fact that I get to drive overseas. Part of this is due to the fact that I have had an international diving permit for 7 years now and another part is that I am actually used to driving on the wrong side of the road. I read Daily Beast for mush of my news because I like the tone and because there aren't many conservatives left who don't deal exclusively in hate (Hannity Rush etc) I actually used to consider myself a conservative but I can't reconcile their embrace of ignorance nor their dismissal of a changing word. Ok before my furnace blew up I had been investing in food items for longterm storage and use. I got a deal on 1pound of vanila beans around new years as well as 2 gallons of peeled garlic last week. Anyway with water turned off in my house all day yesterday (furnace being replaced) I decided that it was a good time to do something about all the garlic and while I was at it make some xmas presents for next year (added bonus time spent in front of the stove means warmth). well I've had my MAC for almost a month now and I'm pretty much converted I received my Education edition of Photoshop last week and it didn't take me a day to realized that CS3 is drastically different that CS2...Time to start learning again (not that that is a bad thing)...Thankfully it comes with video workshop I'm about half way through it, funny thing It's kindled an enjoyment to learn again...I Go »
