One and One-half Is Not the Same As Two
by Steve West on March 15, 2012

Recent conversation with Brenda:
me: There are not two scoops of raisins in my Raisin Bran.
Brenda: Excuse me?
me: There appears to be less than two scoops of raisins in my cereal box.
Brenda: You can tell this by looking at the top of the cereal?
me: Don't be silly, I dumped it all out, sifted out the raisins, and put it back in the box.
Brenda: So now we have a box of Bran without Raisin.
me: I'll put them back but as you can clearly see, there is absolutely no way that is two scoops.
Brenda: What if their scoop is smaller than yours? Maybe they should switch to an even smaller scoop and claim there are 50 scoops in every box.
me: You are taking all the fun out of this.
Brenda: Eat some breakfast - you'll feel better.

No Clowns On Halloween Allowed At My Door
Or "How Ronald McDonald Kicked My Ass" About ten years ago, shortly before Brenda and I got married, we attended a Halloween party at a friend's house. The primary reason to get together was obviously to dress up like we did when we were little but secondarily to get drunk as a sailor on shore leave. The standard "funny name" cocktails were offered like "sex on the beach" and "southern screw" and "raw sewage". Go »
Christmas Post #11: Niche Market Dolls
In Waiting For Guffman, Christopher Guest play acts with his My Dinner With Andre action figures. That was the funniest moment of the film for me. I could see something similar happening with almost any of the dolls in this collection. Go »

My Faith in Humanity is Restored
This is a true story I saw on a travel blog website. Late one night, a woman and her husband received the tragic news that their three-year-old grandson in Denver had been murdered by their daughter’s live-in boyfriend. The boy was being taken off life support at 9 o’clock that evening and his parents opted for organ donation which would take place immediately upon his passing. Go »
